Janet L. Cahoon, age 70, of Saranac, passed away unexpectedly, Dec. 27, 2004 at 
her home.

She was born Nov. 11, 1934 in Keene Twp. the daughter of Arthur and Lucille 
(Hardy) Pinckney.  Janet worked at Saranac Public Schools as secretary to the 
Superintendent where she was past Librarian, secretary to the principal and 
assistant athletic director.  Previously was secretary to Rep. Stanley Powell.  
She volunteered at Ionia Area Hospice.  She attended Shiloh Community Church 
and was very active for several functions there.

Janet is survived by her special friend and long time companion Phil Dawson of 
Saranac; children; Michael (Lois) Cahoon of Saranac, Michele Cahoon of 
Kentwood, Steven (Terry) Dawson of Ionia, Mark (Vivian) Dawson of Ionia; Linda 
(Richard) Munchy of Connecticut; special aunt and uncle Robert and Roseanne 
Hardy of Saranac; sisters, Judy (Ben) Tower of Saranac, Audrey (Tom) 
Hollandsworth of Saranac, Joan (Gordon) McCaul of Clarksville; grandchildren, 
Stephanie, Garrett, Jessica, Thomas, Tracy, Eric, Allen, Phillip, Cassie, 
Grant, Tyler, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was 
preceded in death by her parents. 

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Community Church with 
Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Interment Saranac Cemetery.  The family will 
receive friends and relatives Wednesday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Lake 
Funeral Home in Ionia.  You may make memorial contributions in Janet’s name to 
Shiloh Community Church or Ionia Hospice.
