Cahoon, 81, of Clarksville, went to be with his Lord on January 3, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family, after a short bout with cancer. He was born in Grand Rapids on January 12, 1930 to Maurice and Jessie (Hatch) Cahoon. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Anna Cahoon Everett, Ida Cahoon, and brother Robert Cahoon. Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Rickert Cahoon; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Nancy (Greiner) Cahoon of Southfield, Michigan, Brian and Wendy (Stahl) Cahoon of Saranac and Jim and Robin (Hewitt) Cahoon of Lowell; grandchildren Michael, D.J., Stephanie, Jessie, Ted, Patrick, Stephen, and Lucas Cahoon, Cody Cook, and Kristen and Casey Delnick; three great- granddaughters; brother and sister-in-law James (Fred) and Jacqueline Cahoon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Shirley Weeks Nester; two special nephews Joe and Mary Jane Everett of Belton, Missouri and Steve and Linda Everett of Vallejo, California; nieces; nephew, cousins; and many, many friends. Larry attended North Bell rural school, graduating from Saranac High School with the class of 1949. After his marriage to Marilyn they purchased a farm near Clarksville and have lived there for 57 years. He liked to cut wood and had the winter's supply ready. In past years he worked at John Bean in Lansing; Universal Metal Products, Saranac; Newells, Lowell; Woodland Mall; and the M.S.U. Research Center, Clarksville, as well as general and dairy farming. He served in the National Guard, Co. H of Ionia. Larry was a member of the Lowell First United Methodist Church, Boston-Saranac Historical Society, Ionia County Genealogical Society, and First Family Society. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7th at 11 am at South Boston Bible Church. Interment South Boston Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boston-Saranac Historical Society or the Lowell First United Methodist Church.
