Attended High school through his Sophomore year. Enlisted in U.S. Army at Fort Thomas,KY on January 16, 1918. A Private with the 53th Squadron, transferred to Waco, TX, then to Arcadia, FL at Carlton Field. From Aviation to 79th Div. Field Artillery at Camp Meade to headquarters Troop 9th Army Corps, then to St. Michael, France. Private Cahoon served World War I in the U.S.Army. He left Philadelphia,PA on the ship Morvada on July 14, 1918. He served with battery B, 311th Field Artillery, 75th Division. On May 14, 1919, he left St. Nazaire, France on the USS Edward Luckenbach. Arrived in Brooklyn, NY on May 28,1919, was assigned to Fort Dix. Was honorably discharged on June 9, 1919 on Demobilization He moved to Detroit where he worked as a Tire Finisher. Arthur married Gladys B.Leary in St. Joseph, IN. on April 1, 1924. Arthur and Gladys moved back to Saranac where he owned & operated his farm. Gladys (Leary) Cahoon died June 15, 1967 at age 62. Arthur Cahoon died January 27, 1968 at age 68. Arthur and Gladys are buried in Saranac Cemetery.
