Caine, a business man in Ionia until he retired to Paw Paw 15 years ago, died at his Paw Paw home, Saturday evening. He was 69 years of age and had been a life-long resident of Ionia until his retirement. Funeral services will be held from the Bradley funeral home Tuesday morning with Rev. Paul Stewart officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. Caine was born in Ionia in 1867, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert D. Caine. With his father, he operated a carriage shop and later a livery stable at North Depot and Washington streets for a number of years. He also worked on the railroad for several years and he was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and engineers, as well at the Modern Woodmen of American. Mr. Caine is survived by his widow, the former Mary Couzzins of Hubbardston, whom he married in 1905; by four children, Mrs. William Ellsworth of St. Ignace, and Hall Caine of Ionia, children by his first wife, the former Bertha LaRue, deceased: William Caine, Jr., and Miss Frances Caine, both of Paw Paw; a sister, Mrs. Addie Caine of Coronada Beach, Florida; and two grandchildren, Norene and Norma Lee, children of Mr. and Mrs. Hall Caine.
