Ionia Sentinel, 26 Oct 1944

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o’clock at the Myers 
funeral home for John E. Calkins, 27 West Main street. Dr. Paul L. Stewart 
officiated and burial was in the family lot in Balcom cemetery.  Pallbearers 
were Wilber Nevins, Archie Nevins, Chester Bodman and Ernest Clark.

Attending from away were his brother, Archie Calkins, seaman second class, U.S. 
Navy at Fort Pierce, Fla., Mr. and Mrs. John Currier and son, of Grand Haven, 
Mrs. Flossie Connelly, Mrs. Emma Misner and Mrs. William Graham of Lansing.
