CALKINS
Susan "Sue" Calkins, age 66 passed away in the comfort of her home Monday 
July 27, 2020 after as courageous 10 year fight with cancer. She was born 
February 28, 1954 in Ionia the daughter of Gerald and Hazel (Bugner) 
Krywanski.

Sue retired Ionia Public Schools as a bus driver for those with special 
needs. She also worked part-time at the YMCA. She had many friends among the 
school community, and they were a great source of strength and support for 
her.

She will be most remembered for her love of sewing. She painstakingly made 
beautiful and personal quilts by hand. Her work was impeccable and the love 
she put into each will be felt forever. Sue's greatest love was the time 
spent with family on camping and fishing trips, boating, traveling out west 
and gardening.

Sue will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Robert 
Calkins of Ionia who she married April 7, 1973. She will also be missed but 
always in the hearts of her two daughters Amy Calkins of Belding and Lesley 
Calkins of Lakeview. She is survived by her mother Hazel Krywaski of Ionia, 
brother Mike Krywanski (Polly) of Rockford and sister Bonnie Petersen of 
Greenville. She is preceded in death by her father Gerald Krywanski.

Most of all Sue was a kind and generous person that always made time for 
others. She left behind many wonderful memories for all those that knew her.

Cremation has taken place and there will be memorial services announced for a 
later date. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Condolences
