CALLEN - IONIA - Ammie E. Callen, 63, of 2634 North Bellamy Road, Ionia, died at her home August 14. The daughter of Milton and Sarah Ruth (Main) Lake, she was born in Easton Township March 14, 1923. She attended Haynor rural school and was graduated from Ionia High School in 1944. She was married to Royce McKendry in May 1944; he preceded her in death in 1963. She was married to Delbert Callen in September 1966; he survives. She has lived all her adult life in her Bellamy Road home. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ionia, the Farm Bureau, and Independent Milk Producers' Association. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Sue) Poland and Mrs. Bruce (Patsy) Trierweiler, both of Ionia; two sons, Norman and Arthur McKendry, both of Ionia; one sister, Mrs. Stanley (Celestine) Abbott of Grand Rapids, four brothers, Hershel Lake of Florida, Leo Lake of Kalamazoo; Morrison Lake of Mulliken; and L. G. Lake of Saranac; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held from the Montgomery-Leddick Funeral Home Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Keith A. Bovee officiating. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home Saturday and Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society and Ionia Hospice, in care of the funeral home." Surviving are her husband, Delbert; two sons, Norman McKendry of rural Ionia, Arthur McKendry of Flint; two daughters, Mrs. Stephen (Sue) Poland of rural Ionia, Mrs. Bruce (Patsy) Trieweiler of Ionia; nine grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Sarah R. Valentine of Belding, four brothers, Hersel Lake of Florida, Leo Lake of Kalamazoo, Morrison Lake of Mulliken, L. G. Lake of Saranac; one sister, Mrs. Stanley (Celestine) Abbott of Grand Rapids. Funeral Services will be held 11 am Monday from the funeral home, with her pastor The Rev. Keith Bovee officiating. Interment Easton Cemetery.
