Callow, 86, of 312 East Main died at Ionia Manor Friday evening after being a patient two weeks. She was born in Ionia, February 25, 1884 the daughter of Walter and Charlotte Thomas Callow. A graduate of Ionia high school she obtained her masters degree from Columbia university in New York City. Teaching in Cadillac and in Houghton, she also taught 43 years in Akron, Ohio school system, where she was principal, organizer and supervisor of Kindergarten department. She retired in 1949 moving to Ionia to the family residence where she was born. A member of St Johns Episcopal church, she also belonged to its guild. She was a life member of the Queen Esther chapter OES and Delta Kappa Gamma, a society for women educators. She was also a former member of Ionia Business and Professional Women. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Anne Boylang of Boyne City. Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Boynton-Leddick funeral home. Rev. Fr. Charles Lynch will officiate and interment will be at Highland Park cemetery. Family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial has been established for American Cancer society.
