Callow, 89, died Sunday evening about ? o’clock at his home, 312 East Main street, where he has lived for the past 64 years. He has been ill for about seven weeks. He was born in England and came to Ionia from England in 1872, and immediately went to work for the Detroit-Lansing Railroad company where he worked for 59 years. He retired in 1931 at the age of 74. He was married in 1882 to Charlotte Thomas of Ionia who preceded him in death in September of 1943. He was a member of the Ionia Lodge, F&AM No. 36, Knights Templars Commandery No. 11, Queen Esther chapter OES, and a member of the Episcopal church. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Harriett Callow of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Anne Bolan, of Boyne City; a son, Harry Callow, of Ionia; four grandchildren, Mrs. Wayne Corey of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Earl Graham of Ionia, and Mrs. Thomas Zerbe of Kenosha, Wis., and Lt. Walter Boylan of Joilet, Ill., and three great-grandchildren. A full Masonic service will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from his home, 312 East Main street, with Dr. Paul Stewart officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery.
