      BRIAN "BENNY" BENJAMIN CAMACHO

IONIA-Brian "Benny" Benjamin Camacho, age 33, of Ionia, passed away at 
University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor early on the morning of Saturday, 
July 27, 2024 surrounded by family and friends.He was born in Union, New Jersey 
on February 16, 1991, the son of Josefina (Zaballero) Hammond.

Brian graduated from Ionia High School in 2009. As a high school student Brian 
was involved with Ionia High School's theater and vocal program, as well as 
Ionia's Community Theater.He was an exceedingly talented actor and musician. 
Aside from his musical talents, he was also involved in athletics. Some of the 
few sports he participated in were track, soccer, and tennis. He also took part 
in project managing the American Red Cross Blood drives and played  a major role 
in the set up process. Brian was beloved amongst his peers, he was the student 
council president and was Homecoming King. Shortly after graduating high school, 
he married his high school sweetheart,Marley Slater, and had Aaden, and then 
Makaio a few years later.His sons were his whole world and he loved them dearly. 
Brian went through the world doing good for others and was always ready to lend 
a hand.He had a big heart and was the most kind, generous, selfless person to 
know. Recently in the last six months he met his girlfriend Caitlin who he 
shared much love and happiness with.

Brian will be deeply missed by family and many friends. He is survived by his 
parents, Josefina and Dan Hammond; father, Antonio Camacho; mother of his 
children,Marley Slater; sons, Aaden and Makaio Camacho; sisters, Kristine 
(Danny)Rodriguez, and Anna Sewell; girlfriend, Caitlin Mulder; uncle, Jamie 
(Angelina)Zabellero; grandmother, Sylvia Zaballero; cousins,Kevin (Nancy) 
Zaballero, and Katherine (Matthew)Lopez, step-siblings, Brian Hammond, Jamie 
Mckenzie, and Dan Hammond Jr. and several other uncles, aunts,  nieces, nephews, 
and cousins.

A blessing for Brian will be given on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 5:30 pm. Rev. 
Gregory VeneKlase will preside.Visitation will be held between 5:30 and 8:30 pm 
following the blessing. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American 
Red Cross or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.Memories and messages of condolence
