Portland Review, 22 Sep 1903

John Campbell’s serious illness from paresis was announced in these columns a 
short time ago.  He grew steadily worse and on Sunday last he died.  His 
illness dated from April last.

John Campbell was 71 years old.  He was born in Castile, N.Y., in 1832 and came 
to Portland with his brother Samuel in 1853.  He was married to Miss Mary 
Martin, of Eagle, Nov. 20, 1858.  He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Dora Patrick, 
seven brothers and two sisters, his wife having died three years ago.  Being an 
old resident of this place he was well known as well as well liked and will be 
missed by a large circle of relatives and friends.

Funeral services at the house Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. Stewart, 
assisted by Rev. Stevens.
