Carol L. Campbell, 58, of Nevada City, Calf., died Sunday, June 5, 2002, in
California.   Carol was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Lansing.

Her Nevada City residency began as a legal secretary starting her husband’s
fledgling law firm (retired public defender).  She dedicated the majority of her
life as a housewife, artist and community activist.  Carol loved all the arts,
including painting, photography, interior design, architecture, signing and
dancing, and was active in Nevada City theater groups extending to a bit part in
the movie “Moonshine County Express.”  She loved her family, God, humanity and
righting the injustices of the world.  She loved the ocean, the beach, travel,
gardening, politics and was a voracious reader.

Carol is survived by her mother, Margaret Burke of Orleans; brothers and sisters
and their spouses, Jerry Burke and Aileen Hedden of Lansing, Joyce and Joe
Carter of Colfax, Calif., David and Rene Burke of Orleans, James and Susan Hesse
of Lansing, Mary and Mike Ring of Orleans; aunts, Mabel Sullivan of Orleans,
Joyce Flanders of Lansing; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her estranged
husband, Richard Campbell of Nevada City, Calif.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding,
with Pastor Ken Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating.  Interment is in
Palo Cemetery, Palo.  A luncheon will follow the committal service at Shiloh
Community Church.  Visitation is one hour prior to the funeral.  Memorial
contributions may be given to a charity of one’s choice.
