             CAMPBELL

Lewis Edward Campbell, 89, of Ionia,MI, formerly of Tiffin, Ohio died peacefully 
surrounded by his family on March 15, 2025. He was born at home in Wyandot 
County, Ohio, on March 26, 1935, to A.J. and Marguerite Hart Campbell. In 1960 
he married Carol Ann Sorenson Campbell, and she survives. Also surviving are 
three children, Kevin (Dawn Weidner)Campbell of Parkersburg, WV.

Kelly (Michael) Childers of Louisville,KY and Kathy (Jim) VanSyckle of 
Ionia,MI.,ten grandchildren, Edain (Corey Rutter) Campbell, Chase (Tia 
Ramirez)Campbell, Campbell(Sami) Real Childers, Beckman Childers, Walker(Sara 
Schroan) Childers, Preston Childers, Kendall Childers, Tyler(Kelly)VanSyckle, 
Justin(Haley Perrin) VanSyckle and Anna VanSyckle, plus three great-grand-
children, Killian Ramirez, Jacob VanSycle and Lilyth VanSyckle. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia Bolin and 
Dalores Wink. 

He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1954 and began a six year printing 
apprenticeship with the Findlay,Ohio, Republican Courier newspaper. He spent his 
early career in printing there as well as the Lima News.Advertiser-Tribune in 
Tiffin, Cooper Tire and Rubber printing plant, and Haefling Printing in Tiffin. 
Drafter in 1959, Lew served two years in the Army, working as a  printer in the 
Army Field Printing Plant at Fort Knox, KY. After attending Bowling Green State 
University, he served as Director of Court Services for the Seneca County 
juvenile and Probate Court, from which he retired.Lew was an active elder of 
First Presbyterian Church in Tiffin where he served as an elder, taught Sunday 
School and sang in the chancel choir.He later wa a member of First Lutheran 
Church in Tiffin. In most recent years he attended First Presbyterian  in Ionia, 
Michigan.

Lew was an active participant int he local arts community, singing in church and 
community choirs and acting in community theater productions. He also taught 
cooking classes at the Allen Eiry Senior Center. All of these facts do nothing 
to reveal who Lew Campbell was. He was a devoted husband and father.He was a 
caring friend, often sought out for  his listening skills and advice. He served 
his church and community in ways large and small. He kept a well maintained home 
and a clean car, never sullied y bumper stickers or fingerprints.He never met a 
stranger, chatting up friends and strangers alike.He was a dapper dresser, 
sporting bow ties, argyle socks and polished fine leather shoes. He was a man of 
faith, which he lived unapologetically and boldly out loud.He will be missed by 
everyone who knew him.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made tot he Lakewood Area Choral 
Society or the Allen Eiry Senior Center. Memorial services will be held at 12:30 
PM Saturday, March 29, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM the same day, at 
First Presbyterian Church, 96 S.Monroe St.,Tiffin, Ohio. Arrangements in care of 
Lake Funeral Home in Ionia. Online Condolences may be made at
