When she and her husband first came here in 1839 they lived for a time in a tent. Her husband died in 1860 having been a class leader in the M.E. Church for 26 years. Mrs. Canfield has been herself a member of the Methodist Church for 45 years, being of that number who see little in their life worth living for – unless Christ be “formed within the heart the hope of glory.” The esteem in which she was held by the friends and neighbors was testified to by the large concourse of people who attended the funeral services which were conducted by the Rev. G. W. Bothwell assisted by the choir of the Congregational Church on Sabbath at two p.m. Of her twelve children but six remain. One by one the pioneers of whom the earth seems unworthy – tired of this earthly life are leaving us – “resting from their labors their works do follow them.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/c/canfield12878nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
