The Grand Rapids Herald of this morning says: The body of the mysterious man, who committed suicide at the Soldiers home Tuesday afternoon, by blowing himself up with a dynamite cartridge, was positively identified yesterday as that of Albertus Canfield of Muir, Mich. The identification was made to E. M. Shaw, an undertaker from Muir. Canfield had been working for George W. Chase, his brother-in-law, but left there about seven weeks ago to work for a son-in-law near Ionia. The dynamite, which was a half-pound stick, was purchased at the hardware store of C. A. Ireland at that place. Through a letter addressed to Mr. Ireland, which was found at the scene of the explosion by Coroner LeRoy, the latter was communicated with and this led to the finding of the relatives. Undertaker Shaw represented Mr. Chase and the body was taken to Muir yesterday afternoon for interment.
