When she was first attacked, Dr. Tremayne was telephoned for but before his horse could be hitched up; a telephone message was received saying that she was dead. She has been much troubled with neuralgia and it is supposed that it went to the heart. Her age was 72 and she was one of the old residents of the county, her home being in Berlin for many years. Funeral service in South Ionia, conducted by Rev. W. B. Taylor. Interment Balcom cemetery. Mrs. Minnie Cannam died at her home in South Ionia, on Friday, April 14, after a short illness of neuralgia of the heart. She was born in Germany in 1833 and came to this country when about 24 years of age. She had usually enjoyed good health and was a great worker. No one had a nicer garden or finer flowers. Her door yard was the admiration of passersby from early summer until fall. Thomas Cannam, her husband, died five years ago. No children were born to them and the nearest living relative is her brother, Martin Schnable. There are numerous nieces and nephews. She was laid to rest in Balcom cemetery on Sunday and her familiar face will be seen no more among us, who had known her for so many years. Frank Steinberg of Grand Rapids, who came up Saturday to attend the funeral of his aunt, Mrs. Cannam, returned home Monday. He was obliged to hasten his return on account of the sickness of his oldest son, Edward, who has been down twelve weeks with typhoid fever and pneumonia, and whose condition is still somewhat precarious.
