She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Kirkham, born at Dubuque, Iowa, April 7, 1863. Her parents moved to Logansport, Ind., where they built and operated a gas plant for 40 years, later moving to Niles and built another gas plant and operated it for years. At his death his son, James, continued on with the business. Mrs. Cannon attended the Niles school and finished her education at St. Mary's Notre Dame in Indiana, majoring in music. In 1885 she was married to William Cannon at Niles, came to Ionia 43 years ago, where they have made their residence 33 years on Lytle street. Mrs. Cannon's interest lay in her home and was brought up in the Episcopal faith. Surviving are her husband and her daughter, Miss Loretta Cannon, teacher at Jackson. She was the last of the family of three children. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home with burial at Highland Park cemetery. Mathew W. Duffey, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church officiating. Interment at the family lot at Highland Park cemetery. Bearers were Fred Wortman, Glen Thorp, Frank Gazella, W.Y. Templeton, Roy Weber and K.R. Smith Jr. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Ed. Lowrey and Mrs. John Welch.
