Ionia Sentinel – 19 September 1985
Mrs. Nellie Bell Carey (Loveless), 78, of 320 East Main, Ionia, died Sept. 18 
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray (Emma) Scharaswak of Orleans.  She was 
born Sept. 8, 1907, in Ionia, the daughter of William and Mary Ann Schreiner.  
She attended the Ionia Public Schools.  She married Berson Loveless in 1924 at 
Grand Ledge.  She was a nurse’s aide at the Ionia Manor until her retirement 
in 1972.  She was a charter member of the Church of God in Ionia.

Surviving are two daughters, Emma Scharaswak of Orleans and Mary White of 
Fenwick; three sons, Herbert Loveless of Ionia, Keith Loveless of Orleans, and 
James Loveless of Arizona; 37 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren, one 
brother, Richard Schreiner of Greenville, five sisters, Bertha Thorn of Eagle, 
Mary Perkins of Ionia, Edith Ford of Haslett, Myrtle Harshman of Spokane, 
Wash., and Marguerite Doty of Ionia, and several nieces and nephews.  Funeral 
services will be held at the Montgomery Roetman Funeral Home Friday at 3 pm 
with the Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating.  Burial will be in the Tuttle 
Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm 
Thursday.
