David Carlisle, 85, of 1904 Collins avenue SE, Grand Rapids, died Tuesday, 
February 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Community Hospital in Big Rapids where he had 
been confined since November 25.

He was born in Sparta March 26, 1869, the son of David and Esther Carlisle, and 
came to Ionia in 1903 where he was foreman of the finish department at the E. 
H. Stafford Manufacturing Company.  He moved to Grand Rapids in 1913 where he 
was employed by the Michigan Chair Company for 25 years.

He was married to Faye Hendershott August 1, 1891, in Grand Rapids.  Mrs. 
Carlisle died in 1949.  Mr. Carlisle was a member of the Methodist church at 
Sparta.

Surviving are one son, Victor D. Carlisle of Chicago; one daughter, Mrs. Mabel 
Deurloo of Big Rapids; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three 
sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Pratt of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Esther Scott and Mrs. 
Carrie Perrin both of Detroit, and one brother, John of Flint.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at Boynton funeral home 
with the Rev. Heath Goodwin officiating.  Interment will be in the family lot 
at Highland Park cemetery.
