Recently Visited Brother C.B. Carpenter Here. In Business Here Many Years. George Carpenter for many years a prominent business man of Lake Odessa, passed away at his home after about a week’s illness as result of complications from “flu.” Mr. Carpenter, it seems, had had some heart trouble for the past year and when attacked by “flu” he collapsed. George Carpenter was the last manager of the Lake Odessa Food company which manufactured cereal products. This company dissolved about 1906 and Mr. Carpenter then went to Detroit where he dealt in real estate and later located in Remus. The funeral was held at Remus. Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter were here recently to attend the funeral of Mrs. Gladys Morris, a niece. They afterward took Junior, one of the motherless boys who has proven a joy to the deceased, and will be retained by Mrs. Carpenter. While in Lake Odessa, Mr. Carpenter made The Wave-Times a very pleasant call and discussed the present financial condition of the country, he seemingly in the best of health and spirits.
