He had been in ill health several years. A former resident of Lake Odessa, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Carpenter, and spent his early life in Lake Odessa. He was a barber by trade, retiring six years ago because of ill health. He is survived by his wife, Mabel; one son, Richard; three grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs. Alvin (Gaylia) Bradley, and Mrs. William (Mary) Newman, both of Detroit, Mrs. Fred (Frances) Hoylan of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Gerald (Maxine) Van Houten of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Tasker of Battle Creek, and one brother, Hobart Carpenter of Lake Odessa. Funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at St. Andrews Episcopal church at Clawson with burial at Clawson cemetery. Funeral arrangements are in charge of the Cramer funeral home at Clawson.
