Ionia Sentinel Standard, 12 Nov 1951

Mrs. Phoebe E. Carpenter, 73, died at her home in Palo Sunday evening, November
11.  She was born March 27, 1878, in Ronald Township.  She had lived her entire
life in the area of Palo.  She was a member of the Palo Methodist church.  She
married William H. Carpenter April 7, 1899.

Surviving besides the husband are four daughters, Mrs. Stanley Soules of
Sheridan, Mrs. Harter Noble of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Joseph Kieft of Traverse City
and Mrs. Patrick Belyou of Fenwick; and twin brothers, William Martin of
Hubbardston and Thomas Martin of Ionia Route 1.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Palo Methodist church.
 The Rev. Harold Homer will officiate.  Interment will be in Palo cemetery.
