It came to her friends like a thunder clap out of clear sky, and causes deep sorrow that she should have to lay down her life, just in its morning. Mable Swinehart-Carpenter was born in Rome City, Ind., Nov. 28th, 1876, and was consequently not quite 24 years of age. She came to Michigan with her mother in ’83 and five years ago they came to Belding. She was united in marriage to Eddie Carpenter Sept. 24th, last year, and they have since resided on his farm. She leaves a kind husband and a dear mother to mourn her loss, as well as a large circle of friends who had learned to love her. Her life might be said to be like the bright sunbeam that for a little while sheds its cheerful light and warmth round about and then vanishes with the next passing cloud. The funeral services were held Wednesday, Rev. Mcconnell officiating, and the order of Foresters attended.
