C. Roy Carpenter, 91, of Saranac died Saturday, March 19, 1994, at Metropolitan
Hospital in Grand Rapids.  He was born Nov. 1, 1902 in Athens, Mich. to Carl and
Nina (Webb) Carpenter.  He married Lettie Moyer on Aug. 31, 1928, in Battle Creek.

Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Saranac Community Church, Masonic Lodge, sang
in a barbershop quartet and was active in the Saranac village government.  He
was a boy Scout leader for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife Lettie; one son, Ronald Carpenter of Woodland; one
daughter, Janet Williams of Saranac; 12 grandchildren and several great
grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; one brother, William Carpenter; two
sisters, Ahlene Doubleday and Maxine Beaver both of Battle Creek.

The family will be at the Lake Funeral Home in Saranac Monday from 7 to 8:30
p.m.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Saranac Community
Church with the Rev. Stanley Hagemeyer officiating.  Interment will be in the
Saranac Cemetery.  Memorials can be made to the Saranac Community Church.
