CARPENTER
Ron carpenter passed away at his home in Woodland, MI on May 2, 2021 at the age 
of 86 years old. He was born in Ionia, MI to Roy and Lettie Carpenter. He 
graduated from Saranac High School as class president in 1952. He was a member 
of the Saranac Fire department until the late 1960s. Ron made a career in the 
propane business beginning at Carpenter Shellane Service in Saranac. In 1960, he 
and three partners formed Rural Bottled Gas. He remained owner/operator in his 
company until he retired in 1999.

He was a founding member of the Woodland Eagles. Ron was an active member of the 
AmVets in Inglis, FL and in Mesick, MI. He was also a member of the American 
Legion.

He had a great love and interest in vintage tractors and trucks. He enjoyed 
camping and living life to the fullest.

He will be missed by children Dennis (Kay) Mitchell, Kathy (Larry) Cole, Deb 
(Russ) Carlson, Brenda Dennie, Sheri (Mike) Bates, Steve Carpenter and Tom 
(Laura) Carpenter along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and 
nephews.

Preceded him in death are his parents, wife Dudie, sister, Janet Williams, son 
Keith Mitchell.

There will be graveside service at Saranac Cemetery and a celebration of his 
life at a later date.

Memorials can be made in Ron's name to the American Cancer Society or 
organization of your choice. Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral home of
