Carpenter, Saturday after a short severe illness form pneumonia. She had been in poor health for the past year leaving her a favorable subject for the disease which took her life. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church in Woodland where she had been a member most of her life. The pastor, the Rev. F. J. Fitch, officiated and burial was made in the Woodland Memorial park. The deceased for many years following the death of her first husband, R. Lee Wright, was a business woman well respected and patronized; in fact, she kept her business until her health failed. She leaves many friends who have been greatly concerned by her failing health. She was a most loving and loyal mother, wife and friend who will be greatly missed by her daughters and by the husband of recent years. Those from a distance who were in attendance at the funeral were Miss Jennie Wright of Washington, C. D.; Mrs. Elva Sawyer of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Lottie Davis and Elwood Batdorf of Lansing, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kepner and Mrs. A. Upton of Carson City, Mr. and Mrs. John Weaver of Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Blough and family of Grand Ledge. Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Williams and family of Dowling, Mr. D. W. Mead and daughter Mrs. Helen Finker, and Mrs. Mary Davidson of Kalamazoo, and Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Covert of Holland. Hannah B. Williams, the daughter of Daniel and Rebecca Williams, was born in Drake county, Ohio, on August 13, 1867, and passed away at her home in Lake Odessa on April 17, 1937. She came to Michigan in early childhood and settled in Woodland township where she spent her remaining years. On September 13, 1885 she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Wright. To this union were born two daughters, Jennie V. and Jessie V. For 34 years she was associated in business with her husband at Woodland until his death in 1925, and continued the business from that time until 1936 when ill health forced her to dispose of it. On July 14, 1935 she was united in marriage to Claude B. Carpenter of Lake Odessa. Mich. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Woodland for many years, and was also a member of the Ladies Aid society, the Woman’s Foreign Missionary society and the Woman’s Study club. Because of her genial manner she leaves a host of friends who mourn their loss. Surviving are her husband, her daughters, Jennie V. Wright at Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Jessie V. Covert in Lake Odessa, Mich.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Elva Covert Sawyer in Chicago, Ill; five sisters, Mrs. Sarah Mohler, Mrs. Jennie Slocum, Mrs. Ella Flory, and Mrs. Maggie Munion, all in Woodland; and Mrs. Anna Weaver at Hastings, Mich.; one brother, Isaac Williams at Dowling, and seven stepchildren.
