She with her husband Jerry started Jerry’s Tire in Lake Odessa in 1948. Norien was born in Ionia, April 25, 1928, to Roy and Sarah Hinds. She had a sister, Lillian Bittenbender. She graduated from Ionia County Normal. While growing up on the farm with her sister Lillian, she found out that she would rather be driving a team of horses or milk cows rather than do domestic chores in the house. In her later years, she enjoyed sending and receiving email jokes and Facebook. She was an avid fisherman and a very savvy card player – you did not want to compete with her as a Euchre opponent. In her earlier years, she enjoyed deer hunting with Jerry. Her greatest passions were her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jerry in 1997 and her sister Lillian. She is survived by four children, Sue Ellen Moodie of Bonita Springs, FL, Mark and Pam Carpenter of Ionia, Christy & Ray Jedlowski of Caledonia, and Scott Carpenter of Lowell; grandchildren, Erren Chase, Justin of Charlotte, NC, John Michael Moodie II of Las Vegas, NV, Jay & Angela Carpenter of Lake Odessa, Joshua Carpenter of Byron Center, Megan & Doug Brotherton of Houston, TX, Eric & MacKenzie Wells of Freeport, Chad & Amy Wells of Clarksville, Casey Wells of Charlotte, NC, Craig & Heather Carpenter of Denver, CO, Alex & Stacy Carpenter of Grand Rapids, and Amy Carpenter of Lowell; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Madison, Rheegan, Tanner, Bailey, Carter, Chase Caleb, Cole and Zachary. Funeral was held Thursday, Aug. 27, at Koops Funeral Home in Lake Odessa.
