L. Carpenter of East Otisco died suddenly last Saturday after only a brief illness, the result of blood poisoning. Funeral services were held at her late home on Tuesday forenoon at 10 o’clock conducted by the Rev. J. W. Sheehan. Interment in Riverside cemetery. Such is a brief summary of a good life cut off in the heyday of its usefulness. Still not our will, but thine, O Father, be done. Miss Cora B. Cobb was born in the township of Orleans in 1875, and passed her infancy and youth amid urban surroundings. She knew of farm life, its amenities and rewards. On the last day of December, 1900, she was united in marriage to E. L. Carpenter a prosperous farmer of East Otisco, and the couple with high hopes for the future, went to housekeeping at once in the farm residence which has since been their home. Her mourning relatives who survive are her father, John Cobb, mother, Mrs. John Cobb, and one sister, Mrs. Ernest Chase. She was a good woman, a good wife, a good neighbor and friend, be her name ever blessed. Mrs. Carpenter was a member of Olympia Arbor of Gleaners, the members of which sent flowers and turned out in numbers to the funeral. She was also, by virtue of marriage a member of the Forresters, and in recognition of this the order sent beautiful flowers which mourning survivors appreciate. That Mrs. Carpenter stood high in the estimation of her acquaintances was demonstrated when those who knew her paid their last tribute to the memory of a good woman gone before. Mr. Carpenter, alone, with home desolated has the sympathy of his friends. Card of Thanks: I would hereby tender my sincere thanks to the neighbors and Gleaners who so kindly and freely assisted and sympathized with me during the time of my sore bereavement. E. L.
