Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, 10 Jun 1954

Eugene N. Carr, 50, of Route 2, South Ionia, died unexpectedly Wednesday 
evening at 9 o’clock at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 21, 1903, in Ionia township, the son of Isaac Carr and 
Eda Smith and lived all his life in Ionia.

He was married to Mary Hermans eight years ago and has been in partnership with 
his wife at Hermans’ Tavern.

Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are his mother, Mrs. Eda Carr of Ionia; two 
brothers, Otis and Edward Carr of Flint; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Lavey of Flint 
and Mrs. Emma McDonald of Atlantic City, N.J.

He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul church, the Knights of Columbus and was a 
World War II veteran.

Rosary will be recited Friday evening at 8 o’clock at their home in South 
Ionia.  Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock at SS Peter 
and Paul church.   Funeral arrangements by Myers funeral home.
