George Carr, 67 of rural Portland, died suddenly at his home Thursday evening. 
He was born April 14, 1922, in Danby Township, the son of John and Mary
Kartuski.  He graduated from Sunfield High School in 1940.

He was married to Ilene Darling Sept. 26, 1943.  They made their home and farmed
in the Sunfield area.  He served on the Sebewa Township Board of Review, and was
a representative for Campbell Township-Morrison Lake Clean Water Committee for
the Morrison Lake Association.

Surviving are his wife, Ilene; two sons, LaVern of Portland and Kendall of Lake
Odessa; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Leo and
Gene Karr of Lake Odessa, Edward of Watertown, Wis.; two sisters, Kathryn
Martini of Chicago and Deloris Stedge of Kalamazoo.  He was preceded in death by
his parents, a brother, Raymond, and a sister, Clara.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake
Odessa.  Burial will be in Sebewa Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made
to the Lake Odessa Ambulance Service.  The family will be at the funeral chapel
2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
