Butch was born in Lake ODessa, MI on November 21, 1948, the son of Marjory and Leo Carr.He was raised in the Lake Odessa area and attended local schools, graduating from Lakewood High School in 1966, On April 20, 1968, he was married to Vicki (McLeod) Carr in Lake Odessa. Shortly after being married Butch was drafted into the United States Army and was stationed in Panama. He and Vicki spent the first 18 months in Panama before returning to Lake Odessa. when Butch and Vicki returned to Lake Odessa, Butch began working for the Lake Odessa Department of Public works overseeing the city's wastewater plant. In 1973 he took a job with the City of Hasting's, as the Wastewater Treatment Manger, retiring in 2004 after 33 years of faithful service. After retiring, Butch worked part time as a currier for Hastings City Bank, but his "main" job was being "grandpa". Each day, Butch would pick the grandchildren up from school and take them back to the house, until grandma got home. On a sunny summer day, Butch could be found sitting outside basking in the sunshine listening to classic rock n roll. He enjoyed attending all of the grandchildren's school events, and annual visit to the the upper peninsula. Although he was not an avid sports fan, Butch did enjoy watching Coach "K" and the Duke Blue Devils. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki; his three daughter, Amy (Jeff) Joiner, Carrie Case, Kris (Mat) Sleeman; his brother,David (Jo) Carr; sister, Delores (James) Stank; seven grandchildren, Brad, Cassie, Greg, Brooke, Devin, Kody, and Dallas; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Duane Carr and sister and brother-in- law, Dianne(Dick) Wolfe. Interment will take place privately. Memorial contributions can be made in Butch's name to Thornapple Manor, in Hasting's, MI. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Daniels Funeral Home in Hasting's, MI.
