She was born in Minneapolis, Minn., June 5, 1885, the daughter of Robert and Sarah Hansen Carr. She graduated from the University of Michigan where she majored in math and English. A school teacher 44 years, Miss Carr taught three years in the Upper Peninsula, two years at Cass Tech in Detroit, eight years at Southeastern in Detroit and counselled at Central high school in in Detroit 31 years until her retirement in 1955. A resident of Ionia the past eight years, Miss Carr was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church in Detroit and of National Retired Teachers association. She was active in National Geographic society, Audubon society, and Detroit Women’s City club. She is survived by one brother, Ernest H. of Riverside, Ontario; one nephew, Richard of Grosse Pointe, and four nieces, Mrs. Phillis Peterson of Ionia, Mrs. Elizabeth Adrian of Long Island, N.Y., Mrs. Joan Farmer of London, Ontario, and Mrs. Ruth McDowell of St. Clair Beach, Ontario. There will be services at Boynton funeral home Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and at William R. Hamilton company on Cass avenue, Detroit, Friday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be at Grand Lawn cemetery, Redford.
