The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Jean F. Carroll, of Grand Rapids and formerly of Ionia, age 84, passed away on 
January 31, 2009.  She was born on October 16, 1924 in Ionia Co., the daughter 
of Edward C. and Mabel (Norton) Bloomer. 

Mrs. Carroll graduated from Ionia High School and married Harry J. Carroll on 
December 6, 1952 in Ionia. She worked for Michigan Bell for 38 and half years 
as an operator and chief operator, retiring in 1981. She was a member of First 
Christian Church in Ionia and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Jean enjoyed 
traveling especially spending winters in Florida and visiting with friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Harry; grandson Daniel Killion; 
brother Norton Killion, sisters Sarah Carpenter, Barbara Hawley, Elizabeth 
Justice. Surviving are a son Daniel (Janet) Carroll of Ionia; granddaughter 
Julie Killion; great granddaughters Ashlee and Hali Killion. 

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 
First Christian Church, Ionia. Interment will be held at Tuttle Cemetery in 
the spring. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral 
Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia from 12 noon until the time of the service when Mrs. 
Carroll will be taken to church. Memorial contributions may be made to First 
Christian Church in memory of Jean.
