(Montgomery) Carson, age 91, of Charlotte, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend passed away on Wed. Mar. 18, 2008 at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Carson was born Jan. 25, 1918 in Pontiac the daughter of Howard A. and Edith F. (Kudner) Montgomery and had been a Charlotte resident since 1936 except from 1956-65 when she lived in Ionia. She was a 1936 graduate of Detroit Northern High School and had attended Beauty School in her early years. She had been employed by Montgomery Ward Co., J. C. Penny Co., Duplex Truck, the W. H. Templeton Tax & Accounting Service and had been employed in the ownership of the family owned business, Beach Manufacturing Co. of Charlotte. She was a member of the Lawrence Ave. Untied Methodist Church, had served for 24 years as a volunteer at Hayes-Green-Beach Hospital, was a member of the Charlotte Business Women’s Guild and had been a member of the O.E.S. in Ionia and Charlotte. Surviving are her son, James H. Carson of Rio Rancho, N.M.; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Carson of Okemos; 2 grandchildren, Jeffery, Carson and Catherine Carson; nephew, James Krusell of Phoenix, Ariz.; nieces, Janet (Pete) Marcus of Charlotte, Jim Krusell of Houghton Lake, Julie Krusell of Kalamazoo, Elizabeth Bird of O’Fallon, Ill, Karlynn Matevich of Weidman, Mich. and Ardith Cortese of Fresno, Calif.; great-nieces, Sally (Alex Woldermariam) Krusell and Karey Emmons; and great-great-nieces, Anyalem, Kidist and Tarikwa Woldemariam. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cyril Wadsworth “Cy” Carson, son, John Michael Carson, her sister, Betty Rose Krusell and niece, Joellen Krusell. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Burkhead-Green Funeral Home, Charlotte with Pastors Karen Wheat and Ken Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may to go the Eaton County Humane Society. Envelopes available at the Funeral Home.
