Carter, 67, of Pewamo, loving husband, dad and papa passed away on April 17, 2008. He was born on Sept. 22, 1940 in Lansing the son of Ernest and Virgia (Braugher) Carter. John was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pewamo. He was dedicated to his dairy farm, was an avid deer hunter, enjoyed being outdoors and helping all kinds of animals. John had great love for his family, and had special love for his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Judy; children Dona (Jeff) Keast, Denise (Roger) Arnesen, Diana Klein, John (Kelly) Carter, Christine (Greg) Morey, Jack Carter; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings Dorothy (Ray) Hitchcock, Bruce Carter and Phyllis (Robert) Britton; special friends, Donny (Rosemarie “Sueky”) Henning. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Charlon O. Mason on April 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Pewamo. Rite of Committal followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland.
