SHARON CARTER, 72
Sharon Lynn (Comer) Carter, aged 72 of Ionia passed away November  2, 2018. She was
born February 27, 1946 in Grand Rapids the daughter of William and Martha
(VanGessel) Covell. She married Don Thompson on October 26, 1963. She went  on to marry Leroy 
Comer August 5, 1972 , He preceded her in death July 14, 1978. Sharon later married
Carroll D. Carter September 5, 2003. He preceded her in death September 23, 2015.

Sharon attended Shiloh Community Church and also volunteered as a Transportation 
Coordinator for Department of Social Services.

She loved to read and watch the Hallmark Channel.

Surviving are her children; Joseph L. (Cindy) Thompson of Orleans, Donald L.(Renee)
Thompson of Fenwick, Douglas A (Rachel) Thompson of  Ionia and Sherri L.(Troy)
Conner of Ionia. Brother James (Kimberly ) Covell of Gowen. 16 grandchildren and 17 great-
grandchildren. Sister-in-law Beverly Covell of Grand Rapids. Special Pets Jersey and
Josie. Sharon was preceded in death by husbands Leroy and Carroll, brother William Covell
and grandson Devin Ayres.

Funeral services for Sharon will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Noon at the
Lake funeral Home in Ionia. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m until the time of
services. Interment Palo Cemetery. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to
Soulshine Wildlife Center of Ionia County Safehaven. Online condolences may be made
