Sentinel-Std. - Monday, April 29, 1935

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Carter 89, who died Friday night at 11 
o'clock at the home of her son, Elwood Carter in Muir, were held from the 
son's home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. L.M. Whittemore, pastor 
of the Lyons Methodist church, officiating. Bearers were six former 
neighbors of Durand Interment was in Durand.

Mrs. Carter had been in failing health for the past two years but she had 
been seriously ill for several years.

She was born in New York in 1846 and when a girl she moved with her parents 
to Durand where she had resided for many years. She was married to Theodore 
Carter, and after his death (??) years ago she had made her home with her 
son in Muir. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. George Johnson, Easton 
township, and two sons, Charles of Grand Rapids and Elwood of Muir.
