A CHRISTIAN CHURCH WORKER ---------- The funeral of Mrs. Charles Carter was held at the spacious home of a brother J. Leon Carter, Friday afternoon, Sept. 4, and she was laid to rest at Lakeside cemetery, Rev. Leon Manning, her pastor, officiated. Mrs. Carter was a loyal Christian and a valuable church worker until her health failed. For several years she taught the woman's Bible class in the Methodist church here. She and her husband adopted and educated a daughter and a son who have become an honor and blessing to their parents. A life of devotion, A labor of love; A record of service Recorded above. OBITUARY Mable May Carter, the daughter of Ira and Wealtha May was born October 18, 1876, near Mason, where she early became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, always remaining faithful as long as health permitted. She graduated from the Eaton Rapids high school and taught school and taught school a number of years after which she was married June 21, 1906, to Mr. Charles W. Carter of Lake Odessa. Two children were brought into their home, Vergil of Lansing, and Mrs. Herbert Hatstuff of Stockbridge, who besides the bereaved husband are left to mourn their loss. Mrs. Carter also leaves four sisters, two brothers, an aged uncle, five nieces and six nephews and many friends who will miss her willing helpfulness. Those who came from away to attend the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hartsuff of Stockbridge, Mich; Mr. and Mrs. Vergil Carter, Mrs. Maud Kromenaker and daughters Elizabeth and Mary, and Howard Elsesser and two children of Lansing; the Misses Jessie and Nina May, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Carter, the Misses Louise, Florence and Alice Carter and Olin Carter of East Lansing; Mrs. John May and Mrs. Bruce Clark of Charlotte; Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey May of Eaton Rapids; Mrs. I. Cannon, Mr. and Mrs. Isaar DeMoor and Mrs. Sander Schipper, Kalamazoo; Chuancey Hall, St. Louis; Mr. and Mrs. Donald May, Bellevue; Mrs. and Mrs. Carl Wheeler and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Walkinton, Woodland; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Carter, Miss Audie Post, Mrs. Ella Husted, Mrs. Kate Lane and Mrs. Minnie Bell of Lowell, and Mrs. Herbert Graham, Gary, Ind. ------------------ CARD OF THANKS We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to all those who so kindly assisted at the time of the death mid burial of our dear wife and mother.
