Born April 12, 1876 at Lowell, the daughter of Zeno and Adelia Norcutt Carter, she moved to Lake Odessa with her parents as a small child. She was a graduate of Lake Odessa high school in 1893 and attended Ferris State college in Big Rapids, teaching at the Nye, Bippley and Odessa center schools before going to Augusta where she taught for some time. She returned to Lake Odessa where she taught 26 years before retiring in 1930. She was a member of Lake Odessa Methodist church and life member of Lake Odessa Womans club. Surviving are one sister Mrs. Ruby Graham of Gary, Indiana, and a brother, Benjamin S. Carter of rural Lake Odessa. The body is at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa where services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside cemetery.
