Mr. Carter’s life was a comfort to his family, and added respect to the communities in which he lived. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. O. F. Bulman preached from the theme, “The Proofs of a Future life.” Mr. and Mrs. Goodemoot sang two numbers. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. Robert H. Carter was born in Manlius township, New York state August 21, 1870, and departed this life at his home August 6, 1931 at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 15 days. At the age of four years he moved with his parents to Nashville, Mich. and from there to Berlin township. On January 1, 1895 he was united in marriage to Della Mae Shellman. To this union four children were born, Willard, Mrs. George Bever and Clarence of Lake Odessa, and Mrs. Calvin Smith of Hastings. He lived on his farm in Odessa township until about twelve years ago when he purchased his home in Lake Odessa. Mr. Carter was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather, a devoted friend and neighbor, always willing to help others and was respected by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn their loss his beloved wife and children, a sister, Mrs. John Palmer of Grand Rapids and a brother, Roy of Galien, Mich., besides many relatives and friends. A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved in stilled, A place is vacant in our hearts, Which never can be filled. Card of Thanks: We hereby wish to express our sincere and heartfelt thanks to relatives, neighbors and friends for the kindness and sympathy shown during our recent bereavement, the death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. Especially do we wish to thank Rev. Bulman for his words of comfort, Mr. and Mrs. Goodemoot for their singing, also for the beautiful floral offerings and those who so kindly loaned their cars.
