H. Cary was born on a farm near Billows Fells, Vt., May 25, 1826, and died at his home in the township of Orleans, March 7 1907, at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 12 days. He was married to Miss Ophelia King at Danville, N. Y. in 1850 and in 1853 they came to Ionia county, Mich., and settled in the township of Orleans, where they lived together for 52 years, or until the death of the wife and companion May 8, 1906. He leaves but one surviving relative, (a nephew) the Rev. E. A. Cary, pastor of the Church of Christ, at Bement, Ill. The funeral services were held at Woodard Lake church, conducted by the Rev. G. Webster Moore, pastor of the Church of Christ at Ionia, and Mrs. Eugene Smith of Ionia furnished the music.
