The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, February 8, 1966


Mrs. Catherine Chase of 343 High street died at 2 o’clock on Monday.  She had 
been a bed patient in a convalescent home the past seven years.  She was born 
in 1867 in Avon, N.Y., the daughter of James and Catherine Nolan Scully.  In 
1902 she married John Chase who preceded her in death in 1920.

Mrs. Chase was housekeeper for Father Hardy of Hillsdale and for 20 years 
worked at the Hotel Belding until her retirement when she moved to Ionia.  She 
was a charter member of the Rosary society.

Survivors include a niece in Florida; two nephews, four great-nephews and 
nieces and five great great nieces and nephews of Detroit; also two 
grandchildren by marriage.

Funeral service will be at SS Peter and Paul church Thursday at 9 a.m.  Rosary 
will be recited at Boynton funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.  Burial will 
be in the family lot at Belding.
