He was born at Tulsa, Okla., on April 1, 1931, son of Esequlo and Leonor (Mercadante) Casillas and came to Lake Odessa area in 1940. A graduate of Lake Odessa high School, he was a member of the St. Edwards church. He had been in ill health for some time. He worked at Demmer Corp in Lansing until one year ago when he retired because of his health. Surviving are his mother, Mrs Leonor Vargas; six sisters, Mrs Orvin (Agnes) Bartlett, Mrs.Edward (Susie) Cooley, Mrs.Ellgio (Rebecca) Galavis and Mrs Janie Gutierrer, all of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Paul (Stella) Silvas and Mrs. Raymond (Elvira) Rivera, both of Lansing; and one brother, Hilarion Casillas, Grand Ledge. Funeral services were held on Monday at 1o a.m. at St. Edwards Church with burial in Lakeside Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Robert Maternaski officiated. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. on Sunday at Pickens Funeral Chapel where he reposed.
