PORTLAND- Ava M. Cassel, 98, of 4826 W. Grand River Ave., Portland, died 
Thursday.

She was born Sept. 25, 1886, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philander 
Hitchcock.

She was a retired school teacher having taught for more than 30 years in 
Portland area rural schools.

she is survived by one son, Clare Cassel of Portland, and nine 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Neller Funeral Home in 
Portland with the rev . Dow Chamberlain officiating.

Burial will bein Portland.
