           JOSEPH A. CASSELL

   PORTLAND -- Joseph A. Cassell, 61, of 3892 York Road, Portland, died Saturday in
Tuscon, Ariz.

   He was born Nov. 14, 1922, in Sebewa Township, the son of James and Florence
Franks Cassell.  He was a 
retired employee of Oldsmobile, Lansing, and also retired from farming.

   Surviving are his wife, Audrey; three sons, James and David of Sunfield and
George of Portland, four 
daughter, JoAnn Van Orman of Greenville, Inez Leik of Portland, Jackie Erdman of
Sunfield and Jean Cassell 
of Portland; eight grandchildren, three sisters, Jennie Brundage and Emma Knisley,
both of Lansing, and Julia 
Whorley of Saranac.

   Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Neller Funeral Home,
Portland.

   Burial will be in East Sebewa Cemetery.
