Stephen Van Tile Casterlin Dead. S.V. Casterlin passed away shortly before 2 o’clock this morning, at the home on North Jefferson street, his last illness being of some two weeks duration. Deceased had been in precarious health much of the time during the two years last past. Mr. Casterlin was born in Seneca county, New York, and was 56 years of age at time of death. He came to Ionia about 19 years ago, and for the succeeding 13 years was employed at the State House of Correction as guard and keeper. Feeble health manifesting itself some six years ago, Mr. Casterlin enlarged the retail milk business which he had been conducting on a nominal scale, and devoted his entire time to this business. Deceased is survived by the wife, and one daughter, Miss Emma, also by three brothers: D.A. of Charlotte, Charles C. of Mason, J.A. of Washington, D.C., and one sister, Mrs. J.L. Metcalf of Geneva, New York. He was an ardent member of the several Masonic bodies of this city, and was highly regarded by his fellow fraters for his geniality. Interment will be at Mason.
