Ionia Daily Sentinel, 12 Aug 1916

Joseph Castle, aged 72, died Friday afternoon at 3:15 at his home four miles 
northeast of Ionia.  He had been in failing health for several months.  He was 
one of the older residents of the vicinity, coming here with his parents nearly 
70 years ago, and living here since.  Besides the widow, he is survived by 
three brothers, Charles of California, Alfred of Sunfield, Herbert, who resides 
on the old homestead in Ionia township, and two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Brown and 
Mrs. Julia Ernst of Hubbardston.  Funeral services will be held at the 
residence Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, slow time.  Rev. R. B. Chapman will 
officiate and interment will be in Highland Park.
