Lyons Herald, 28 Mar 1907

Mary Caroline Travis was born in Yates county, N.Y., February 14, 1856.  She 
was the youngest child in a family of nine children.  Moved to Lebanon, Clinton 
county, February, 1869, when 13 years of age.  Was married to William Clinton 
Smith February 15, 1870, and to them were born two children, a daughter Mrs. J. 
Randolph and a son Charles Smith, who lives at home with his parents.  After 
being widowed three years was married to J. Catlin on March 25, 1893.  They 
moved off their farm into this village eight years ago, where they have resided 
since.  Mrs. Catlin was taken ill six weeks ago and died March 22, 1907, in the 
51st year of her age.  She united into the Fellowship of the Brethren Church in 
Lebanon, between 24 and 25 years ago.  The friends and neighbors join with the 
husband, children and relatives to mourn her loss and to bow to the divine will 
believing that “God doeth all things well.”
