Orvin A. Catt, 97, of 1404 Johnson, Lake Odessa, died Saturday, May 10, in
Pennock Hospital, Hasting.  Born April 13, 1889, in Odessa Township, he was the
son of George and Nancy Herron Catt.  He was a lifelong resident of Ionia
County.  He attended Beard rural school.

He was married to Bessa Thomas March 26, 1913, in Ionia.  They operated a tire
and battery shop for some years in Lake Odessa.  He was also employed by the
school system as a bus driver and janitor, and also worked as a carpenter.  

Surviving are his wife Bessa; a son LeRoy Catt of Lake Odessa; a daughter, Hazel
Richardson of Portland; and a daughter-in-law Mary Catt of Barryton; five
grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Vertie McDonald of
Lake Odessa.  A son, Glendon (Pete) Catt, preceded him in death in 1985, and a
sister, Ida, died in 1968.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Koops Funeral Chapel,
Lake Odessa, with the Rev. George Speas officiating.  Burial will be in Lakeside
Cemetery.  A memorial has been established for Lake Odessa Ambulance, in care of
the funeral home.  The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 2 to 4 and
7 to 9 p.m.
