Washington St., Tuesday afternoon, was largely attended by family friends and neighbors, who gathered to pay their last token of respect for deceased. The service, in the absence of Dr. Callen, was in charge of Rev. D. C. Ostroth, who gave a feeling and comforting address. The music was by Mrs. G. M. Phelps and Mrs. Thane Benedict. The bearers were: I. P. Hoag, T. J. Way, George J. Wendell, and L. L. Harwood. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. Mr. Cavanaugh had been a resident of Ionia forty-three years, and had served many places as engineer, being up to the time of his recent failure in health assistant engineer at Water Works, serving his eighth year, having filled the same position before for six or seven years. He was distinguished for his faithfulness to duty. Four children survive: Mrs. C. A. Deline, and Miss Ida of this city; C. E. of Detroit, and F.R., at present in northern Canada.
